Alpacas are gentle, domesticated camelids native to the Andes Mountains, prized for their exceptionally soft and luxurious wool. They are primarily raised in Peru and produce two types of fiber: the dense, crimpy fleece of the Huacaya and the silky, lustrous locks of the Suri.

Vicuña

Vicuñas are elegant, wild camelids native to the high Andes of South America, renowned for producing the finest and most luxurious wool in the world. With their slender bodies and tawny coats, vicunas roam altitudes above 3,800 meters, where they graze on sparse vegetation.

Social Responsibility

Grupo Esmeralda sources alpaca and vicuña textiles from artisans from around Peru. As well as teaming up with textile associations from communities in the Urubamba valley.
